English

The English curriculum is varied and is designed to cater for a diversity of literacy skills and abilities in the student body.  Students undergo literacy and comprehension testing at the commencement of each year. This testing helps staff to identify and address problems and design programs that may be beneficial throughout the year.

Students will cover a broad range of texts throughout their study at the College. They will study traditional text forms such as novels, short stories and poetry as well as films, documentaries and still images.

In Years 7 to 10, students concentrate on reading and the development of language skills as well as writing and oral communication. In the senior years, Years 11 and 12, the College offers courses such as Victorican Certificate of Education (VCE) English Units 1 to 4 or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) in English.

College Affirmation...

I have a right to learn free from distraction.

I have a right to feel safe.

I always work to the best of my ability.

I treat everyone around me courteously and with respect.

I show courage when I attempt new things and I don’t give up easily.

I believe the best of myself and others.

I am the winner I was created to be.
